Pressure sensors monitor the pressure and convert the physical value of pressure into a standard industrial signal. The electrical signal is transmitted to a display for indication or to a control system for further processing. Based on the electrical input signal, the control system regulates actuators or drives in the process automation, which influence and adjust the process.
Pressure sensors have a standardised thread so that the device can be easily screwed in at the desired measuring point. Special connections are available for the process or food industry. A suitable housing protects the sensor and the electronics from environmental influences. Pressure sensors are suitable for almost all industrial gases and liquids in various tasks.
Pressure sensors and pressure gauges for hydrogen applications
Hydrogen is seen as the miracle cure for the energy transition. In the future, hydrogen is set to play a central role in sustainability and decarbonisation. Hydrogen is set to make transport and industry more environmentally friendly.
Hydrogen is already being used at low pressure in the chemical and process industries. New challenges arise in applications such as e-mobility. Measuring ranges up to 1000 bar require reliable pressure measurements and innovative sensor concepts. Piezoelectric pressure sensors are used in industrial hydrogen applications. In order to minimise hydrogen embrittlement and significantly increase service life and safety, pressure measuring devices made of resistant materials such as 316L austenitic steels or pressure sensors with gold-coated diaphragms are used.
